“Ocean Hope Forum 2019: Pemerkasaan Belia Untuk Kelestarian Alam Sekitar (SDG 14)”
(Empowering Youth For Environment Sustainability)
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by Malaysia in 2015 with the rest of the United Nations Member States to perform immediate response towards poverty, protect the planet and ensure peace and prosperity for all people. As marine biologists, the members of Marina Club initiated the program “OCEAN HOPE FORUM 2019: Pemerkasaan Belia Untuk Kelestarian Alam Sekitar (SDG 14)” to introduce and explain further on the ‘SDG 14: Life Below Water’ to the students. A workshop titled “How to make Your Resume Sexy” was carried out to provide guidance to the students on how to prepare a notable resume, preparation for working life and future career choices available for them.
The workshop aims to:
- Introduce and empower the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 14: Life Below Water) among university students to appreciate marine environments and its marine life.
- Raise concern and responsibility to make sure the sustainable use of marine treasures and resources.
- Create awareness and encourage the students to participate in volunteering works and youth organizations that focuses on the environments.
- Allow students to gain teamwork skills, be more proactive and help them improve their time management between academics and extracurriculars.
- Allow students to gain vital information regarding future career choices and the required skillset by the related employer.
- Provide career guidance to the students as well as the long-term planning.
