“Waste Management For Ocean Hope Workshop 2018”

Students of the Bachelors’ Degree (Marine Biology) Marina Club – expressed concern over the increasing number of wastes produced on a daily basis. Without proper disposal of waste by the consumers, the marine life and their habitat could be threatened by the improper waste management. Hence, a workshop to spread awareness regarding the proper waste disposal by individual, domestic and commercial was conducted in hope to reach out to the local public. Various NGOs had previously stepped in to educate the local public on the proper waste disposal by environmental awareness campaign, however consistence is key.

The workshop aims to:

  1. Raise awareness to UMT students and staffs along locals on proper waste management.
  2. Enhance the knowledge regarding the cause and effect of waste management to the ocean pollution issue in Malaysia.
  3. Provide an effective and detailed way to reduce waste that can be applied by the locals.
